Portland Craftsman Bathroom Remodel
Maintaining Character While Modernizing
One of the most common requests we hear from clients considering a Portland craftsman bathroom remodel is to honor the original style of their house. Portland has an abundance of craftsman and mid-century homes, and while these spaces often have timeless appeal, they can also feel outdated. For this project, the layout was left largely intact, which minimized disruption to the home’s structure and kept costs under control. Instead of tearing down walls, the focus was on strategic updates that would make this Portland craftsman bathroom remodel feel brighter, more spacious, and more functional without compromising its original footprint.
This particular craftsman bathroom remodel was designed with that exact goal in mind. Our focus was on preserving the existing layout while upgrading every surface, fixture, and detail to bring new life into the space. We delivered a contemporary bathroom that fits seamlessly into the charm of this classic southeast Portland craftsman home.
TILED SHOWER & LINEAR DRAIN
Tile Selection That Sets the Tone
The foundation of this remodel was the flooring and shower tile. We used large 24x24 grey tiles on the floor for a clean, expansive look, and light textured grey and white 12x24 tiles in the shower for contrast and cohesion. The oversized tiles reduced grout lines, making the space feel open and easy to clean. A linear drain was added for better drainage and a streamlined modern touch, one of the many small details that elevates a bathroom remodel from standard to custom. We enhanced this project with the addition of heated flooring, a feature the client particularly appreciates for providing a consistently warm and comfortable environment, thereby eliminating cold spots and chilly feet.
Fixtures That Add Functionality
Part of this Portland craftsman bathroom remodel was updating to modern, water-efficient fixtures that combine style and function. Sleek chrome finishes brightened the room, while streamlined profiles kept the design uncluttered. These upgrades created a bathroom that feels both luxurious and environmentally responsible, which is an important priority for many Portland homeowners.
Creating a Cohesive Design
Every successful remodel comes down to how well the pieces work together. By choosing a consistent palette of greys, whites, and metallic finishes, we established a cohesive design that flows naturally throughout the bathroom. The textures of the tiles add depth without overwhelming the space, and the neutral tones ensure the bathroom will remain timeless for years to come. This is especially valuable in Portland, where many homeowners want their remodels to feel modern but not so trendy that they quickly go out of style.
If you’re considering a bathroom remodel Portland, know that we're a team that can understand both the architectural style of your existing house and your unique needs asa a homeowner. With thoughtful planning and attention to detail, we can help your bathroom to become one of the most beautiful and functional rooms in your home.
